Congrats, you have found, Johnny Lingo. This Providence R.I. based piano man, songwriter, singer, improviser, has been wowing crowds since his former band The Lingo, won Brown University’s WBRU 2004 rock hunt. Known for his mesmerizing piano playing, engaging songs and surprising covers, Johnny has graced countless stages throughout New England. Lingo’s piano rock style has garnered comparisons to Billy Joel, Ben Fold’s, Dashboard Confessional and Jack’s Mannequin. In 2009, his piano/drum duo showcased at the NACA Mid Atlantic Festival. Their jaw dropping performance got them booked at several colleges including Mount Saint Mary’s, Cornell, Wheaton, and Providence College. Also in 2009, Johnny Lingo won Best Male Vocalist with the Providence Phoenix, and appeared on the cover.
2010 hasn’t been a quiet year either for the piano front man. On July 2nd, his band performed a historic show in front of 1,000 people at Waterplace Park, as part of WBRU’s Summer Concert Series.
On August 20th, Lingo released his Debut EP titled “Somewhere To Go”. This 5 song EP showcases Johnny playing on a real piano with Chase supporting on drums. They recorded analog at Machines with Magnets (Battles, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Elvis Perkins).
