There is more than one artist that go by the name Hashbrown
1) Rapper Ryan Rayford, born in New Orleans, LA on August 20, 1982,
2) A blues band from Florida who's releases include the album, 50 ft. doubledoor boxcar.
Ryan Rayford, born in New Orleans, LA on August 20, 1982, his full stage name is hasHBrown. His family moved to Houston, TX when he was barely 4 years old. During his late high school/ early college years he became a founding member of the hip-hop group, The Council. Alongside John Dew & Hip-Phonix, hasHBrown recorded a full length album, Black Bleach, (February 1, 2005 released locally by Council Music Group). The group's sound was a unique mixture of east coast production + southern slang/culture + elite lyricism and is still considered ahead of its time in regards to Houston Hip-Hop. hasHBrown also doubles as a producer under the alias Jett I Masstyr.
His debut solo album release the Sounds From the Back Seat LP (released by Council Music Group/ Jett I. Masstyr Music. on November 23, 2009) and was preceded by his legendary mixtape series: Tape Deck Music volumes I & II (both released online in January 1, 2008 & May 2009). His full length album Sounds From the Back Seat LP has received a very positive response on the internet and through various publications. SFTBS LP is the 1st installment in the musical tale of hasHBrown which will be a triology (next: Ridin' Shotgun LP, then: The Driver's Seat LP). hasHBrown's producer Jett I Masstyr released an instrumental album the Vacation On Tatooine LP (released by Jett I Masstyr Music on November 9, 2009) and has featured production for artists such as Dustin Prestige, Summertime Johnny, The Council, Hollywood Floss, T.H.E.M., Rob Jay, Delorean, and more.
hasHBrown's next featured project BREAK SOMETHING EP is set be released in early 2010 and features production from long-time collobarator Jett I Masstyr (better known as his alter ego in the production realm). BREAK SOMETHING EP is a perfect segue into the Ridin' Shotgun LP which will feature more classic rock + funk landscapes as hasHBrown taps into a more agressive sound.
hasHBrown also specializes in creating his own opportunities as well as provide for other artists local to Houston, TX and surround cities. Alongside John Dew, they successfully hosted/promoted/sponsored an underground music show the ONE MIC series for an entire year. ONE MIC is now one of the few hip-hop staples in Texas which has housed acts like Neon Collars, Truth Universal (new orleans), Mic Skills, and many more.
He is considered one of the backbone's in Houston Hip-Hop and will continue to impress the masses musically. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
