Like most things, it pretty much started on accident. A couple of friends from outta town were playing a weeknite gig at the Yucca, and Jon Douglas, of noise-rockers A Technicolor Yawn, and Jason Woodbury, formerly of power-poppers Hands on Fire, were kicking around the idea of putting a quick set together to join in on the festivities. Calls were placed to drummer Cavan Noone, who the two were both playing with in the prog-rock project Cardiac Party, who gingerly signed on to man the kit for the evening.

The resulting jams turned out different than anyone expected; they shared sonic traits with the dudes' other projects: soul inflected vocals, guitar freakouts, heavy pop sensibility, but the proceedings were markedly looser, the "power trio" presentation lending plenty of breathing room, space for hooks and white noise. Woodbury had been playing solo under the name Soft Drink, and after repeated attempts to call the band something else (Goat Jaw? Sound Sound? Mayors Rabbis & Black Market Kidneys?) the group shrugged their shoulders and decided to go with it.

The group are currently recording their debut EP, and will be giving away copies of their first single, "Lackadaisy" b/w "American Tongue," recorded with John Schampel (A Technicolor Yawn, Bad Drumlin Grass) at shows and in digital form online, with the express intent that fans of the songs should freely distribute them on any filesharing site they wish, to all friends who might dig, and to powerful label executives who might wish to shower the band with money so that they may quit their jobs as rogue fisherman, guns for hire and creative landscapers and tour this great nation and elsewhere.
