Pierre Hilaire grew up listening to music. His dad was a musician and played with a band every Saturday night. This is where he got his idea to start his own band. Pierre formed rapid fire with brothers Georges, Roland and friend Nigel Villaire. The band name was later changed to Villaire. The boys met up with Atlantic records producer Dennis King and began their campaign to land a record contract. After turning down profile records in 1984, the group signed with EMI records and released "Cheating Heart." After their second release titled "shadows" under the American music errands label, Pierre disbanded the group and did work for Tropicana as well as produce a number of acts. Pierre produced four gospel albums before relocating to Florida. There he met and married Patricia Clark and started Remote Control Egypt. Pierre wanted Remote Control Egypt to be a studio project band with guest musicians contributing on each album. Work began on the first project when tragically, on January 6, 1999, Patricia died in a car crash leaving Pierre void of the desire to continue the project. Any Hopes of an album release was questionable. With enough encouragement from family and friends, Pierre decided to pursue a release with the perspective of it being therapy for him. Work on the first album began with the line-up being Pierre, and his brother Georges Hilaire.
In July of 1999 Remote Control Egypt released their first album “Pattisongs & Postcards. The albums first single, "Ride” faired well on mp3.com reaching #16 statewide. Remote Control Egypt then followed pattisongs during the latter part of 2001 with their second album which was titled, "All I Am." Ft. Myers Magazine gave the album rave reviews and hailed it as "one of the great indie projects ever to hit Southwest Florida." The single "Dogs, Ally Cats & Actors” was considered revolutionary when the public had their first chance to listen to it. In the latter part of 2002 Remote Control Egypt played throughout Southwest Florida promoting their two albums while they worked in the studio with the new addition to the band Chris Beck, Patricia and Pierre’s nephew. In early March 2004 Remote Control Egypt released their third album titled, "Junk Behavior." This album had contributions from various musicians including Terry J. Foshee, which made Junk Behavior a triumph. The singles such as "Now," "Go On," and "Who Could Love Such a Woman?" were pieces of a glorious musical puzzle that proved to be major label worthy. Broad jam and Taxi gave the third album rave reviews. All of three albums were released two to three years apart. Remote Control Egypt is a labor of love that Pierre and Chris take their time to finish. A short Time after their 2004 release of “Junk Behavior” Pierre’s brother Georges Hilaire left the project; a new drummer/percussionist joined the group Matthew Knighting. The combination of the three was and still is considered a force to be reckoned with in the indie world of music. In early spring of 2007 almost three years after their release of “Junk Behavior”; Remote Control Egypt released “Tiny Volcano”. The album included singles “Good enough”, “The Game You Play”, and “Window”. Surely a great album with life lessons needing to be taught and life lessons needing to be learned.
