All the way from the mean streets of Santiago de Cuba to the sparkling beaches of Australia, DJ Yaleidys brings her fresh mix of reggaeton, hip-hop and Latin house to the world. Stunning the world as ‘Lady Ragga’ with the infectious beats of her breakthrough 2004 single “Come and Get It,” Yaleidys ruled the sun-kissed mega-clubs of Ibiza and the cigar-infused and mojito-drenched dancehalls of Old Havana, reaching the top 10 on international music charts and earning world-wide acclaim for her role in the Grammy-nominated music film “Liberacion.”

“Liberacion: The Songs of the new Cuban Underground” documents the passion and energy of a group of young Cubans through the reggaeton musical movement. It was this melting pot of Cuban flavor, music and dance that first attracted the attention of Chris Murphy, manager of INXS. "After working 15 years with the band, traveling the world and listening to all kinds of music, I developed a sense for finding undiscovered musical gems," said Murphy.

After a trip to Cuba, he became fascinated with the buoyant spirit of the new-generation Cuban despite living without the most basic resources. "I began to hear what was happening with the music in Cuba and so it all began."

Murphy met with fellow Australian producer Mark Edwards, who was living in Cuba, and together the two began documenting the young Cuban musicians, developing an album worth of music titled “The Sounds of the Cuban Underground.” The journey of these recordings was detailed in the Grammy-nominated music film “Liberacion,” which chronicles the journey that Murphy, Edwards and these young musicians and singers, such as DJ Yaleidys, undertook to make their music heard on the international music scene.

In 2009, after a 14-year hiatus, Murphy reunited with INXS and together they undertook a new project re-recording a selection of songs from their renowned catalogue for a new studio album titled “Original Sin.” After hearing the first stages of Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20) singing the title track, Murphy approached DJ Yaleidys with the task of infusing her distinct Latin sound into the track. The inspired mix of reggaeton and rock became an immediate club hit in the U.S. and reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart, knocking Britney Spears from the top position.

Fresh off that success, Yaleidys’ new musical project teams her with Australian rock icon Jimmy Barnes for their innovative, updated take on the classic Australian song “Sun in Cuba,” a track that carries listener’s all the way from the sweat-stained and sticky carpets of Australia’s working class pubs to the palm-fringed and idyllic warm waters of the Caribbean, with their unique fusion of reggaeton, rock and Latin house beats. In 2012, DJ Yaleidys will release her debut album reintroducing the world to her fierce Latin rhythms and lyrics on the Petrol Electric label.
