In 1999, singer, lyricist, and multi-media perfomance artist, Ilyana Kadushin, was invited by her friend, Julio Gomez (a drummer from Mexico) to attend a recording session at Blue Ribbon/ Flohovia Studio in NYC. It was there she was introduced to James Harrell, a multi-instrumentalist, who had been doing some work with Gomez and his band “HEVY FLOE”. After a couple of hours, Kadushin and Harrell wrote the song “CHAMPAGNE”, which appears on their debut album, “...From the Beginning”. An instant bond was formed and the two continued on to write more music.

Before joining forces in 1999, Kadushin had just recently written , produced, and performed her one-woman show, “Devour the Apple”, as well as being a voice-over artist for television and radio. Harrell had been touring and performing with the hard-core industrial act, BILE, playing keyboards and doing lighting and stage design for the band. In 1998, Harrell left BILE to pursue other interests. After meeting and performing with Kadushin he replied, “I have finally met a vocalist and lyricist who paired up nicely with the music I was writing.”

Within a year and a half after their meeting, the two had created a body of work they had been performing around NYC venues, as well as doing sound design and composition for theater, film and television. Shortly there after, they became involved on a personal level. Kadushin says, “Being on both the personal and creative side with someone can be challenging, which is why so many of those relationships seem to dissolve, but we both know that it is unique, and its rewards far outweigh its challenges.” Read more on Last.fm.
