From the rubber capital of the world, Akron, Ohio. The industrial city that spawned such bands as Devo, emerged a fresh, young indie rock outfit known as Waiting for Evangeline. At a time when buzz-generating bands like The Black Keys were bringing a lot of attention to the northeastern Ohio music scene, Waiting for Evangeline made their contribution to the indie rock/emo genre by writing well-crafted, emotional, honest songs blended from the members various influences.

The band was formed in the spring of 2003 by guitarist, vocalist Aaron Novak and drummer B.J. Barbieri, who left the band for personal reasons and was replaced by Andrew Summers in 2006. It was completed with the additions of bassist Chad Jolly and guitarist Josh Clevenger, and Chas Tesar on synthesizer. Waiting for Evangeline were a driven, goal oriented band, fused from some of the finest local acts. Combine all of their talents with an energetic live show and you have a band that was motivated to write, record, and tour non-stop. Their songs are powerful, dynamic, and precisely written and weave in and out, from serene and melodic to intense and chaotic.

They released their first full length album System Malfunction in 2005 and toured in the spring of that year promoting it.

In March of 2006, Waiting For Evangeline decided to go their separate ways. They are no longer writing music or playing shows as a band.
