Born in Sydney, Australia and trained as a classical pianist as a child, DJ Daydream is undoubtedly Australia's best internationally known happy hardcore DJ. "Classical was more a training ground to give me the knowledge of music," he says, "but I really didn't appreciate it because there were so many things tied to it. Whereas with the whole sort of 'rave music' scene it was more a freedom of expression. You could do anything you wanted to."

And "want to" he did. These days Daydream plays to rave crowds in Australia of far in excess of over 8000 people. "After playing a few gigs, I definitely realized that I wanted to be playing my own records," he says. With his musical background, making his own happy hardcore records was just a matter of learning the technology. An engineering course and several thousand dollars later, Daydream had the tools and knowledge to complete his task, writing music.

Daydream explains his first break came while touring with Scott Brown, a hugely popular international happy hardcore DJ from Scotland. "I was taking him to his hotel in my car, and I played him a tune that I had been working on - it wasn't even finished yet. He pulled out his laptop and signed it up straight away."

Daydream has had releases on the well known happy hardcore labels Essential Platinum and Evolution Gold, as well as tracks on the phenomenally successful Bonker's 3 compilation CD, on the React label. In 1998 Daydream decided to create his own label, and Red Rocket Records was born. Distributed by the same company that dealt with his previous records, he could meet the same market and get a better deal at the same time. With his first release on the new label gaining much acclaim, it wasn't until the second release that Daydream can now say that he holds the number one selling happy hardcore record in Japan ever, with his "Flying Over The Moon" remix.
