Flux Oersted is an industrial garage synthpop band from Cedartown, Georgia, USA. Founded in 1989 as a recording project by Robby Garner, Flux went on to become a live band and then later, a virtual band with producer/song writer David Hamill. The characteristic synthesizers bring rock and industrial overtones together with pop melodies and science fiction themes. From a song about a boy and his dog, to introspective philosphical ponderings about the pureness of one's thoughts, Flux Oersted has explored a lot of sonic space.

Original members David Gilmore and Robby Garner played together first in an art project called A Presence Called Fred. As a live band, Flux Oersted featured Tommy Roberson on bass and Sam Hancock as a second synthesist and vocalist. Steven Boyd Henderson was a frequent collaborator and wrote many of the band's early lyrics. Later, he played guitar and created synth voices and samples for many songs. David Gilmore wrote most of the songs that he played guitar on, and helped arrange the ones he co-wrote with Robby.
