BIOGRAPHY - EQUITANT

With his latest 2009 release "Dynamism", Equitant has proven once again how to re-design and significantly alter his musical approach. The concept for “Dynamism” is an ever-changing activity or process. Various theories or philosophical systems that explain the universe in terms of force or energy. A process or mechanism responsible for the development or motion of a system. Continuous change, activity, or progress; vigor. Equitant's "Dynamism" unites a cold mix of electronic body music and dark techno. 2008 saw a revivification of Equitant's style and sound, with the "Mekanik" digital release on Black Montanas & Black Leather Records. From 1993-2003 Equitant released a vast collection of demos issued on his label Black Montanas. Equitant’s early sound started out as an ambient synthesizer based project in 1993, then evolved to a cold mechanical direction of electronic music with traces of techno and electro elements. 2001 brought forth Equitant's debut attempt at writing "techno". Two futuristic based CDR releases "Design" and "North of Munich". 2002's "Zurich" united Equitant with the French Canadian singer Erica Falardeau. They developed an abstract mix of new sounds by concocting abnormal forms of techno, electro and industrial music. "Zurich" had shifted the configuration of Equitant's sound once again. With the release of the "Kompressor" EP in 2003, Equitant's techniques delved deeper into a state of electro and retro sound-scapes. The use of vocoders and synthetic drums were now dominant, including a combination of minimal synthesizers and sampling influenced by past and present German electro. With the simultaneous release of "Zeit" and "Konstruckteur" (digipak CD format) on Tarot Productions in 2005, Equitant's style fused a cold delivery of electro, and abstract techno to unveil a futuristic simulation for all the masses. Zeit, which is known to the Germans as "time", displays sounds built over minimal synthetic beats, merging powerful synthesizer lines and ambience. Zeit, originally recorded from 2002 to 2003, unleashed a new "time" for Equitant's ever-changing sound approach. Like “Zeit”, Equitant's "Konstruckteur" was again following in the shadows of past and present German electronic artists. With "Konstruckteur", Equitant leads the listeners to an imminent age of time a future, dream and illusion. “Konstruckteur” is an album of epic electronic integrity, inventive, cold and mechanical. The follow-up to "Konstruckteur" was the long awaited "Hauptstadt" EP unveiled in 2007. These three tracks of raw analog and ambient electro has become a favorite among Equitant fans worldwide. After a much-needed break musically, Equitant released the experimental "Technik" in early 2008. A release strictly influenced by the infamous "Detroit electro" sound. In July 2009 Equitant produced a track called "You Know What I Want" for Yasmin Gate's debut release, along with other collaborators: T Raumschmiere, Ikki, Douglas McCarthy, Migue Garcia and Petra Flur.
