Essex-based pop/rock/alternative band The Penguin Party: "Pigeonholes are for pigeons: We are Penguins."

The band's first album See Thru Songs was released on 1st January 2008, the second album Sex Furniture Warehouse was released on 11th February 2011, and the third album Mesherlek was released on 21st July 2014.

The latest incarnation of the band is a unique blend of both sexes and all ages, The Penguin Party have drawn bewildered comparisons with Ray Davies, Morrissey, Frank Zappa, The Idle Race, The Small Faces, Slade, Billy Bragg, Kirsty McColl and The Blockheads. Oh, and Chas'n'Dave and The Wurzels.

Dave Milligan stuffs complex but accessible lyrics into clever yet memorable songs, brought to life in the accomplished and irreverent hands of the other Penguins, Gareth Hall, Jake Milligan, Johnny Holburn and Jan Black.

The latest album Mesherlek has songs that cover a range of subjects from the career arc of a musician to sea shanty, stopping off on the way at surprisingly chirpy songs about manic depression, the joys of prescription drugs, and how anyone can find true love no matter how toe-curlingly awful they are. And a song about a cat.
