Stefan Melis, known as DJ Bountyhunter, is a Belgian electronic music producer and DJ. He was a resident DJ at Rave Zone Montini and the Extreme.
Melis began his career in 1990 at a small afterclub called TGV. During this period, he recorded his first track, which featured a sample from the "Star Wars" movie. This track was later released on the newly founded label Bonzai Records, marking the birth of DJ Bountyhunter.
His career quickly gained momentum, with his first major performance at the Love Parade, followed by appearances at Mayday and numerous Bonzai events across Europe, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Austria, Croatia, Bosnia, and England. He also played at nearly every major club in Belgium at the time.
Melis held residency at clubs such as Cherrymoon, TGV, Montini, Extreme, Planet Hardcore, Kabarka, Club Extreme, and Eclips. His most well-known track is "Whoops." Other notable releases on Bonzai Records include "X-Change," "Demilitarized Zone," "The Return," "The Nojunkies," "Speed Area," and "Aqua Contact."
After his time at Bonzai Records, he joined Byte Records, where he released tracks such as "The Darkman," "Illegale," "50$," "Synthetic Drugs," and "Monastic," along with several remixes. He also had a release on the Q-Dance label.
Currently, Melis produces hardcore, French tek, hardstyle, and electro. He frequently performs in the Netherlands alongside well-known DJs such as Darkraver, Rob, Panic, Stanton, Paul Elstak, and Rotterdam Terror Corps, many of whom have become personal friends.
Since September 12, 2009, he has been a resident DJ at Cherrymoon, playing hardcore, early rave, and classics. He continues to perform at major events such as Nightmare, Houseclassics, Decibel, Harmony of Hardcore, and Dominator.
