d.frost - born in Shawano, WI in 1979 and has been a student of hip hop since his middle school days listening to the likes of Dr. Dre, Tupac, Ice Cube, B.I.G., Snoop Dogg, and The Beastie Boys. As one could imagine, growing up in suburban Wisconsin opened numerous opportunities for musical discovery. Other admitted musical influences range from J.Dilla to Jerry Garcia. Including, Nas The Fugees, Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, De la soul, a Tribe Called Quest, Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, , Erykah Badu, Digable Planets, Jay-Z, Brother Ali, Too Short, Pete Rock and CL Smooth, J-5, J-Live, DJ Shadow, Wu-Tang, Method Man, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Pharcyde, and Phish.
As a student at University of Wisconsin-La Crosse he discovered his love and skill as a turntableist. He then maxed out his credit card and got the basic essentials...receiver, tables, needles, and a few records. The next four years were spent honing and studying the new craft. After graduating he moved to Minneapolis, MN and began rappin' and creating original beats. He again maxed out not one but two credit cards and got a Power Mac G4, Protools, and an AKG Condenser Mic and went to work, makin' beats, writin', rappin', scratchin', singin' and producing. The first d.frost album, The Icebox was released in 2003. Followed by Onward 2004 and Escape to Space 2005. In May 2006 he moved to San Francisco, CA. and spent he next two and a half years piecing together tracks for Spare Time. In December of 2008, Spare Time was released. The latest album I Can’t Hear will be released the summer of 2010. Recordings are also underway for the follow up to I Can’t Hear.
