Flex Mathews has been a rising star in the Mid Atlantic regional Hip Hop scene for much of the last 5 years. He was named one of URB Magazine’s Next 100 Artists in 2005, and his transition from the local DC underground to national recognition has been the product of his dedication, quality live show performance, as well as his numerous victories in MC battles.

Along with his DJ/Producer Damu the Fudge Munk, Flex Matthews has appeared at countless events in the DC area, opening for national Hip Hop recording artists such as Gang Starr, Camp Lo, Das EFX, Cappadonna, and Cannibal Ox. He has also made appearances on the 2004 and 2005 Vans Warped Tour on the Code of the Cuts Stage. A familiar face in the local scene – Flex has come to represent a new generation of the DC Underground.

Flex and Damu recently released their debut EP – The Handsome Grandson – independently on CD and 12’’ vinyl. They are currently promoting the record to college radio, underground DJs and the mixtape circuit. Additionally, they have been taking their music to the masses, doing impromptu street performances and promoting at DC’s hotspots.
