Grim Ritual started as a three piece with long time friends Jeremi Cardenas on Guitars, Jake Smith on Drums, and Steve Mera handling Bass and vocal duties. For 2 years, Grim Ritual impressed audiences across Portland, Oregon with their down tuned heavy sound and their ability to entertain people across genres and age groups. In 2007, Feeling the need to expand, they added Austin Adams from local group "Recrud" as a full time bass player, allowing Steve to play as a second lead guitar while continuing the vocal duties.
Melding the precision of 1990's American Death Metal with the raw feel of European Black Metal Grim Ritual's style fits well with bands such as Carcass, Dark fortress, and At the Gates to name just a few. Rather than focus on pure speed and agression Grim Ritual has incorperated a heavier, darker, and more driving sound. Read more on Last.fm.
