The band STEPASIDE was founded in September 2004 by the members of three different bands from Humenne – a small town in the east of Slovakia. Dusan and Medved used to play together in a band called Delirium, Zigo used to play bass in Mne Je To Jedno and Miro used to play the guitar in a band, which hadn’t even come to its name, not even some live show. As for the last mentioned formation, it had only two members at first. However, soon Dusan started helping them out in the rehearsal room. Later, when the drummer left this band Dusan and Miro were facing the problem of how to go on. In the same period of time, both Delirium and Mne Je To Jedno broke up, which resulted into the idea of forming a new band together with Medved and Zigo. As they had all been friends since childhood and had all been sharing passion for similar type of music, there was no need for any other idea. Besides playing the guitar, Miro resolved to sing as well and Zigo switched from bass to guitar. They started making music in a local free time centre and after a couple of weeks of playing they agreed to call their band STEPASIDE. They played their first common gig on December 22nd 2004 which was a so called Christmas concert of local bands. About a year later they recorded their first demo in the Grady Records recording studio (Humenne). It included the songs Headlines and Suddenly. Headlines was re-recorded in June 2006. The band mixes elements of various music styles, such as post-hardcore, alternative rock, nu-metal and punk. It’s important to mention that Dusan spent the end of the year 2005 and most of the year 2006 in Ireland. During this period of time, it was Zigo’s brother Peto who was helping the band out on bass and who is after Dusan’s return still viewed as a fifth member of the band. Read more on Last.fm.
