Inner Surge was a Canadian metal band from Calgary, Alberta. The band blends metal, hardcore, progressive rock, electronic, and Eastern influences.

History
Formed in 2001 by Steve Moore, Inner Surge's debut album Solus Verum consisted of 16 tracks with a lyrical and personal approach to issues in today's society. Matrika, their second album, was recorded at Organic Sounds studios in Calgary. Space Junkies gave it 10+ out of 10, while Bands United described it as "Disturbingly fresh". It was additionally featured on Punkcanada.net's "Top 10 of 2004". The band quickly emerged as one of Canada's most critically acclaimed heavy bands. RWS Magazine described Inner Surge as "possibly among one of the best imports that Canada has to offer - aside from Molson Beer, Peter North, and Shania Twain’s genes, that is." The band is usually described as metal, punk or metalcore, though opinions vary. Inner Surge's influences, as cited on the sleeve of its CD, Signals Screaming, include such controversial voices of left-wing dissent as Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, George Orwell, Naomi Klein and Public Enemy's Chuck D. Their track "Halliburton Piggies" was nominated for a Just Plain Folks award in the metal category.

Inner Surge was also featured in a book by Garry Sharpe-Young, New Wave of American Heavy Metal. Inner Surge played the 2006 Vans Warped Tour in Calgary on July 20 with headlining acts such as Helmet and AFI. Their most recognized album was their final release, "An Offering", which was also their most aggressive album. Since the band's split, the members have moved on to form projects such as Post Death Soundtrack (Steve Moore's industrial/electronic band - www.postdeathsoundtrack.com), Truck (Bryan Sandau and Scott Taylor's instrumental metal band), and The Unravelling (a project where all 3 former members are involved - www.theunravellingmusic.com).
