Deserts In Bloom is made up of Cory Brigham and Corey Pohl, both of whom grew up on Vancouver Island, off the west cost of Canada. Deserts In Bloom's debut album features a wide variety of songs written over three years of travel, humanitarian aid, love, loss, and self-discovery. Their main goal is to share their insights and realizations with others, as well as to encourage people to see the world first hand. They have been involved in humanitarian aid projects for over two years which has included building homes and schools, visiting orphanages, and distributing food and other aid supplies. They have also started The Deserts In Bloom Project with a promise of ongoing aid in developing countries. A Pretty Face and a Dollar Sign was recorded over a month and a half in the fall of 2010 after a five month journey through South and Central America, as well as Dominican Republic and Haiti.
