Izhar Ashdot (Hebrew: יזהר אשדות; born November 23, 1958) is a foundational figure in Israeli Rock, recognized as a pioneering singer-songwriter, guitarist, and one of the most influential music producers in Israel's history.

Early Life and T-Slam
Born in Jerusalem and raised across France, Cambodia, Greece, and the Netherlands, Ashdot’s musical identity was forged by a diverse exposure to global rock and pop. In 1980, while serving at the Galey Tzahal radio station, he co-founded the legendary rock band T-Slam (תיסלם) alongside Yair Nitzani and Danny Bassan. As the band’s primary musical architect, Ashdot helped trigger an unprecedented wave of "rock mania" in Israel with hits like "Radio Hazak" and "Lir'ot Otah Ha-Yom."

Production Mastermind
Following T-Slam’s 1983 disbandment, Ashdot became the country’s leading producer. He was the visionary behind Ofra Haza’s international breakthrough, producing the world-beat remixes of "Galbi" and "Im Nin'alu," the latter of which became a global #1 hit in 1988. He is credited as a forefather of the World Music genre for his ability to blend ethnic Middle Eastern sounds with modern electronic production. He has also produced landmark albums for The Friends of Natasha (החברים של נטאשה), Beri Sacharof, and Rona Kenan.

Solo Career and Innovation
Ashdot launched a highly successful solo career in 1992. His debut self-titled album and follow-ups like Zman Kesem (Magic Time) and Bemerhak Negia Mikan yielded classic hits such as "Ish Ha-Shokolad," "Noa Shel Ha-Yam," and "Kama Rotzi Lalechet." A digital pioneer, Ashdot was the first Israeli artist to launch an official website (1995) and played a key role in the country’s first legal music download services.

Recent Work
In recent years, Ashdot has continued to tour both as a solo artist and with T-Slam for their massive 40th-anniversary celebrations. He remains a prolific composer for film and television and continues to discover new talent through his independent label, Izhar Ashdot Music.
