TANK LIPP ( aka JASON LIPP) was born in Queens, New York on the 23rd of February in the year 1980. I was surrounded by hip hop/ rap music at an early age. Use to hoop it up and play hand ball at hoover park just a couple seconds away from Queens boulevard and distinctly remember the cars coming thru with the Tribe Called Quest bangin "Scenario" as loud as they could bump it. I remember the energy it filled me with, and i began reciting other artists lyrics. Eventually this transcended into me writing my own lyrics.

I moved down to Florida in 1992 and my love for the hip hop culture and rap music continued. I shuffled back and forth still during summer breaks to visit my friends in New York. It was kind of neat, because in some instances there was a delay of music getting down there, so i felt like i had a headstart on some of the tunes of the times and i was always trying to culture peoples ears down here. Something that still sticks with me til this day was how in 8th grade I was rockin' the Wu Tang Clan T-shirt and some people who had never heard of them yet were asking if its related to martial arts, having no clue that they were a hip hop / rap group. Quickly Wu Tang proved they were no joke and birthed their legacy of world wide recognition and respect stilll acknowledged tl this day... The pertinence of this to me? Well, i self appointed myself to be the guy that would bring good music to the orlando area since alot of the stuff people were into was this dirty south style which was not so much my cup of tea. Basically, that up north, new york style of rapping that i fell in love with, is what i wanted to plant on the soil down here. It wasnt everyones cup of tea, but it harvested my identity even more as a hip hopper- spreading the news of new music that was always coming out, and of course the beginnings of making my own original music.

Yes, i was the guy in the courtyards at Oviedo High School who was rapping and maing noise. That was me in the hallways rappin my own lyrics, or lyrics to the songs on Bet and MTV. That was me in the cafeteria battling whoever thought they could spit just as hott...Back then in the early and mid 90's white people who were embracing hip hop culture as hard as i embraced it had to knuckle the racism of being called "wiggars" but this never phased me...I continued rocking my hockey jerseys ( as pictured in Craig Mack videos) lol, saggin my pants, oversized back packs, and pen and pad doing less of what the teacher lectured, and more of what my music energy felt like jottin on page.

I rocked so many different rap aliuses/ names in high school that its even pointless to try to name them all here, so to save from an already long story lets just say my music pioneering had begun. Junior year of High School, i linked up with the artist now known as UNKNOWN SUSPECT ( featured on the latest Kitchen Dip Recordings release) in physics class. We both bought techniques 1200's and , well D.Jing was not so much my thing, but I certainly still bought vinyl for at least the purposes of poppin in the latest hip hop instrumentals..Between, me, UNKNOWN SUSPEct and OMAR RADWAN we put out a variety of dope hip hop mix tapes before high schools graduation. We also use to rock out at partys, performin, freestylin, scratchin on the tables etc. Our group went by so many names too i forget half of them now. lol.
In college we went our separate paths for a bit ( a line you can catch in one of my album introductions on the PURPOSE:ANALYZE THIS album. Our dreams of all making it big time in the music industry were fading as we headed into collegiate venues and other careers, still remaining friends, but with less time to give to music.

Hip Hop and Rap never left my blood. I may not have put mixtapes out for many years or performed as much, but the pen and the pad never left. I continued to fill crates with the spiral notebooks and black and white composition pads / and even jotted music on my laptop as well. Their are so many lost rhymes that have never even been published or recorded from my side. But the point is my heart as it correlates to music never left.

In 2003 we all linked up again as Omar Radwan brought us back into the booth with the CALICO SILO. This was the name given to our recording establishment/team etc. We made a mixtape, with some hott gems on it, but mostly it was just released amongst peers friends, and never widely distributed or pushed.

In 2003 my dad passed away and this is where i decided to turn my life around. This was the most devastating blow to my life to date. My dad was my best friend in addition to being the best father anyone could ask for. In addition to half-heartedly pursuing my music aspirations my whole life ( even tho i still wrote-i never persued anything big), i had also messed up college and ran into some problems with partying and drinking. In the face and wake of my dads passing i decided to use this time as a way of honoring my dad and paying homage to all he gave me. Unfortunately i wish i had gotten my act together before he died, so that he could have seen me grow up and take all the advice he ever gave me. But i birthed a spiritual side, and adopted the mentality , that the next best thing was imagining that he is still here with me in spirit, watching me every step of the way, and that i still had an opportunity to make him proud. This type of positive thinking empowered me to lift myself out of a rock bottom place that my life was sinking in, and also simultaneously pay my dad back.

In 2007 i released my debut album REINCARNATED. While on paper the title might conflict with some religious beliefs. Its not a religious album. In a metaphorical sense tho, it is spiritual. Each track on the album for the most part, entails a moment or event that had an adverse effect or negative impact on my life. But by illustrating it, and telling of those tails, and traveling along the journey of the album to the final track, one can see that what didnt kill me made me stronger and that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. In that broad metaphorical sense thats what the debut album REINCARNATED is about, it is about making a comeback in life , that even when you are rock bottom, there is always a light at the end of that dark tunnel.

The next year, in Apri 2008 l, literally an exact year from the first release, i dropped my sophomore album PURPOSE:ANALYZE THIS. .. I had worried that my tales of emerging from "death" and making a comeback in life and surfacing from "rock bottom" may have been too "woe is me" or sappy, for the streets who i wanted to ultimately captivate with hott spittin' and anthems ( my true roots of music)...PURPOSE:ANALYZE THIS was a 24 track effort separated on two discs...

Both albums are professionally packaged in shrink wrapp cyllophene wrapping and sold in stores as well as thousands of internet download sites including the famous ITUNES.

In 2008 , for whatever "street" cred that might have still not been accomplished on the 24 track sophomore album release, i released a mixtape and collabed with some of orlandos most talented/ biggest hip hop acts.. I did tracks with MIDAZ, MURDOC, AND MADD ILLZ using some 'ol Mobb Deep beats and Wu Tang Beats etc. Midaz has worked with many well known artists including Wu Tang Clan themselves and is actually known as "Gzas favorite rapper," as well as "every rappers favorite rapper" ..Murdoc appeared on the world famous wake up show in Los Angeles as well as Hot 97 and appeared with Kanye West a couple times. Madd ILLZ is one of the CEOS of the Worlds Largest Rap Battle Leagues: GRIND TIME.

In 2008 , TANK LIPP music was really starting to take off and the repuation was established that TANK LIPP was a force to reckon with in the industry. THE CEO AND FOUNDER of GRIND TIME ( THE WORLDS LARGEST RAP BATTLE LEAGUE) called TANK LIPP and asked him to headline a grind time event against WISEGUY ( another up and coming artist from the music group WORD PERFECT) ...Tank signed on for the battle which took place in August 2008. There was soo much hype placed into this battle that GRIND TIME even brought in the legendary IRON SOLOMON ( currently on Hot 97 with his new track with Cassidy) from New York to judge the battle amongst other battles..From August 2008 til January 2009 TANK LIPP appeared in 4 Grind Time battles. In the TANK LIPP vs MOSH JELTON battle at ORLANDOS AMWAY ARENA, DIRECT ( the CEO of GRIND TIME) said "TANK LIPP turned into a beast over night" ..Even tho TANK LIPP was not really a battle rapper and did these battles more for promotional purposes, it briefly appeared as tho he might be the next icon in battle rap. Things quickly changed tho, some unfortunate events, and TANK LIPP music took a two year hiatus.

TANK LIPP was signed in November 2010 by Kitchen Dip Recordings which is a partnership between OMAR RADWAN and INCISE.

Kitchen Dip released SOULCHEF's album "REMEMBER WHEN" which features TANK LIPP's long time rapping partner Unknown Suspect ( who also did beat production on both TANK albums) . TANK LIPP's single came out November 25, 2010 titled "Who I Am" and it features SOULCHEF production and ALEX MINOR in the second track, "All This Pain."

You can check TANK LIPP's first official music video for the single released in Summer 2010 titled "HELP ME GOD" . The song was produced by SouLyricist. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
