Jacqui Callis was born in the UK. She started playing music at art college in Leeds during the post-punk days - her early musical history included periods with Delta 5 and the Mekons before joining and then fronting, the increasingly alt.country version of Cut Loose in London in the early to mid 80’s. After a brief period singing with 11-piece UK ska band The Deltones, she left to form The Rivals described by City Limits as "the most exciting country band to hit London”. Other bands included Devils in Disguise ("the best British acoustic trio in years” Music Week), Folk City Sisters and The Callis Family. She now lives in Cornwall where she plays regularly with acoustic roots band Cahooty (www.cahooty.co.uk). Last year she put out this self-released album entitled Soul Vagabond. As well as being a singer and songwriter, Jacqui is also a voice and crystal healer and trained in running energy workshops. Read more on Last.fm.
