As if it was destiny, Chau Ngoc's singing career began by being at the right place at the right time.
It all started in 1987 when Chau Ngoc's best friend asked her to come along to the Final of the New Star Search Contest's audition. At the time, she was a spectator of the show. Out of the blue, there was a contestant who was absent, causing a gap in the program. The contest's organizer desperately needed to find somebody to replace the absentee. Suddenly, her friend suggested that Chau Ngoc filled the position. The result was a place in the top 10. Since then, Chau Ngoc became a professional singer.

Her first booking was on September 1, 1987 at an outdoor concert in District 10' s Recreation Center in Saigon. At the time, she used her real name "Bich Ngoc" as her stage name. However, when she came to settle in Melbourne, Australia in 1991, she changed her stage name to Chau Ngoc to distinguish herself from another singer - Diamond Bich Ngoc.

Her first major appearance oversea was in Thuy Nga's video Paris by Night 36. Even though music fans are not familiar with Chau Ngoc's singing, they may still very well enjoy her debut performance. However, her most notable work did not come until Thuy Nga's video Paris by Night 42. The reason is the genuinely moving duet with Don Ho - "Mot Thuo Yeu Nguoi" which also is the title of her first CD with Thuy Nga Productions.

Love to sing when she was very young, Chau Ngoc never had any formal voice train ing until she was 18 years old. Since then, she continued to attend music courses such as music theory, voice and rhythm training. When asked about her favorite kind of music, she stated that she loves all kinds of music. But her first choice is Pop and Soft Rock. She likes to listen to Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Selena and Debbie Gibson. In term of Vietnamese music, she likes Khanh Ha, Khanh Ly (pre-war music), Ai Van (folk) and Huong Lan (country).

Beside a career in the entertainment business, Chau Ngoc also works as a free lance graphic artist. She designs many posters for the Vietnamese community in Melbourne, Australia. Her main source of inspiration comes from the support of her family and friends. When she is not busy with work, she enjoys spending her free time with family and friends. She loves to cook, go to movies, shop and surf the net. Her favorite food is beef and she likes drinking coffee.

Fans can look forward to Chau Ngoc's upcoming solo album and appearances in the next several videos by Thuy Nga Productions. Chau Ngoc also performs on stage in many places and claims that she loves to perform in the U.S. the most because of the chance to meet more Vietnamese fans. However, she stated that the most memorable experience was at Da Lat in 1988. As she recalled, there was no power when she and a group of singers arrived. They had to do their make-up in the dark with torches. The singers took turn holding the torches for each other. When the time came to begin the show, the power was still not available and the singers had to rush to the power station to request for electricity in order to perform.
