The sound of two boys from Brooklyn creating the music they want from their makeshift basement studios with unhealthy determination and little to no compromise. Passenger Peru blends the tender and vulnerable songwriting of Yo La Tengo, the aural colorings of Brian Wilson, and tribal noise freakouts reminiscent of early Animal Collective.

Written and recorded from the deserts of Eastern Washington to the chaos of New York City, all the way up to the tranquil landscapes of Alaska - these songs were written under extreme conditions over several difficult, hungry years. Passenger Peru's self-titled debut album has the charm of a homegrown garden - songs blossoming from rubble and dirt bloom into wild unbridled soundscapes with enduring melodies. Oh, and you can dance to it too.

The roots of this album were planted about 4 years ago during a chance meeting between Justin Stivers (while he was still bassist for the critically-acclaimed band The Antlers) and virtuoso multi-instrumentalist Justin Gonzales. This turned into the Stivers-led Pet Ghost Project - a band critics say "retains a passion for art rarely found in the creative world these days."

Now, after a year of preparation that saw Stivers sleeping mostly on the floor of his home studio, the two Justins are putting their considerable talents behind this new creature - Passenger Peru.
