Libel is a Brooklyn power trio with a weakness for epic. Gavin Dunaway, Brian LaRue and Nick Broza are hopelessly addicted to writing over-the-top, post-punk-inspired musical sagas about horridly pretentious subjects such as the unbearable ennui of contemporary life. Yes, they use terms like ennui in describing their songs; the word "milieu" even appears in one of their song titles.

They scream hipster scum, from lead singer Gavin's beard and bowler cap to the always accompanying illustrations and animations from Michela Buttignol. Still, the music's not bad, and you can stream and download their three EPs for free at Bandcamp. MP3s are easy enough to trash afterward, right?
