Born & raised in Flaxmere, Hawkes Bay. Emceeing since the early 90's.
Joined a group Tribal Syndicate in 99' which is still currently active.
Tipene is known for his sharp delivery using both Te Reo Maori (Native language of NZ) and the english language along side one another delivered with crystal clear tones which has earned him the status of Hawkes Bay’s premier MC.

Nov. 2005 Tipene was nominated for”Emerging Maori Artist of the year” by The NZ Arts Foundation which had been previously won by Kiesha Castle Hughes,2004 which Tipene claimed in the following year.

The Hawkes Bay based MC’s passion in Maori history combined with his narrative story telling ability paints a prolific picture of being Maori in today’s society. Tipene has since taken up Te Reo Maori classes at TWOA (Te Wanaga O Aotearoa) and at Kahuranaki marae in aspirations earning a place on the pae pae at Kahuranaki marae. By day Tipene is a Meat worker Progressive Meats Hastings. Has a passion for rugby and prides himself in being a Father, a Husband and a positive role model.
Tipene is known in the NZ music Maori music scene with Numerous live TV performances on shows like Mai Time, Coast TV, Te Kaea with his long time accomplice, Hastings DJ (NZ DMC Champ 05) and close friend "The Abbott".

Tipene is currently working toward being a full-time musician.
He is currently finished his first E.P titled “Tautoko Fundraiser E.P” which is a fundraiser for the unveiling of both his Mum and Nephews unveiling then moving on to releasing his first full length titled “Tautoko the Album” in mid 2012 on his independant label “4tafyd Pa Productions”.
