Stefan Jay (born February 2, 1989) is an Australian indie/alternative singer, pianist and songwriter. From an early age, Stef demonstrated extraordinary musical abilities, learning the piano at the age of 10 where his innate talent quickly progressed. He began writing music at the beginning of 2007, basing most of his lyrics on life experiences and cherished people.

Of all his compositions, “In Every Way I Can” is one of Stef’s most revered and personal musical pieces, dedicated to a close friend. Stef fervently confirmed this claiming “I really enjoyed playing the piano to it and I’m able to pour a lot of emotion into it. It is the one that actually TOUCHED someone. That makes it special.” Perhaps it is the universality of his music that enables him to reach out to a wider audience, as his lyrics are moving with songs such as “Life’s Little Instruction Book” expressing the need to “love yourself and live your life the way you want.”

Stef's versatility as a musician is presented not only through his awe-inspiring ability to play the piano, but is clearly demonstrated through his dedication to independently teach himself the guitar, whilst juggling the Higher School Certificate in 2006. Since then his guitar skills have manifested greatly, enabling the development of several personal compositions accompanied with a growing experimentation in remixing covers to some of his favourite tunes.

Stef’s passion for ALL music has motivated him to draw inspiration from a variety of artists, delving through a platitude of different genres, ranging from Antony and the Johnsons, Evanescence, Ben Folds to Missy Higgins.

Currently in his first year, studying a Communication and Law degree at the University of Technology Sydney, Stef continues to passionately write music whenever he finds the time.
