El curioso nombre de esta formación surge cuando un par de músicos y compositores se dirigen a una fiesta en un Ford Taunus, recordando en el camino que había que ir disfrazados. Así es que sacan los apoyacabezas de los asientos del automóvil y se los colocan sobre sus propias testas. Llegan a la fiesta y ganan el premio al mejor disfraz. A partir de ese episodio Germán Dominicé (Voz) y Carlos Senin (Guitarra) deciden llamarse "Los Hermanos Butaca” y se lanzan a componer su propio y particular repertorio autodefinido como de “Tangos y canciones de humor triste” (que es el humor que no hace reír).
Sus letras, cargadas de ironía y entrelineas, arremeten contra un sin número de personajes y situaciones de la vida cotidiana, asumiendo, detrás de un manto de humor, una suerte de postura filosófica ante trascendentales temas como el sexo, el amor y la muerte. Composiciones de estructura compacta y esmerados arreglos, se presentan sobre una base tanguera clásica pero a la vez irreverente, que sin culpas ni permisos abordan al Tango como lo que es, un género popular que se va redefiniendo día a día en más de una dirección.
“Compañía Musical El Amanecer, presenta: Los Hermanos Butaca” es su primer trabajo de estudio (2007, Otitis Records), el cual ha sido muy bien recibido por crítica y publico.
Actualmente se encuentran terminando la grabación de su próximo álbum “Choque de Frente”, en el que el dúo es acompañado - al igual que en cada una de sus presentaciones - por Marcela Pedretti (Piano) y Fernando Rezk (Bandoneón), contando además, para esta ocasión con reconocidos artistas invitados tales como Mavi Díaz, Palo Pandolfo, Pipo Cipolatti, Laura Ros (Voz), Franco Luciani (Armónica), Gabriel Luna (Piano), Laura Ros, Cabulero Dúo (Guitarras) y Alberto Villafáñez (Percusión).
Los Hermanos Butaca se han presentado en diversos espacios como los Ciclos de Tango 2007 y 2008 organizados por el Centro Cultural General San Martín de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Teatro “El Victorial”, Auditorio de Radio Nacional Argentina, Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso, Milonga Parakultural, Milonga Salón Pueyrredón, Teatro de la Galería, Café Homero, Palacio Barolo, Centro Cultural del Sur y muchos otros escenarios de la República Argentina y Uruguay.
En 2008 han sido los Ganadores en el Rubro Tango del Festival de la Canción Inédita de Rojas, Pcia. Bs As, con su canción “No sé si tengo ganas de volver”

About “Los Hermanos Butaca” (The seat brothers)
The curious name of this band comes up when a couple of musicians and composers round up to a bash in a Ford Taunus, remembering in the middle of the road, that it was a costume party. So, they took off the headrests of their seats and put them just upon their own heads. They arrive at the party and win the “Best costume award”. Since that moment, German Dominice (voice) and Carlos Senin (guitar) decide to call themselves as “Los Hermanos Butaca” (The Seat Brothers) and start writing their particular and personal repertory of self-defined “Tangos and sad humor songs” (which is the humor that doesn..t make people laugh).
Their lyrics, full of irony and double meanings, refer to an uncountable number of popular characters and everyday situations, facing them through a constant ironic point of view, with topics such as sex, love and death.
Compact-structured compositions and careful arrangements, are presented upon a classic tango base but at the same time, constantly irreverent, that without guilt or permission involves tango as what it is; a popular genre that continuously redefines itself day by day in many directions.
“Compañía Musical El Amanecer, presenta: Los Hermanos Butaca” (Sunrise Musical Company, presents: The Seat Brothers) is their first studio work. Released by Otitis Records in 2007, it received many positive critics from the media and also the public.
Nowadays, they are finishing the recording process of their next album, tentatively named “Choque de frente” (Front crash), in which the duet is accompanied –just like every show they give– by Marcela Pedretti (piano) and Fernando Rezk (bandoneón), also counting in this occasion with important guests such as Mavi Díaz, Palo Pandolfo, Pipo Cipolatti, Laura Ros (voice), Franco Luciani (harmonica), Gabriel Luna (piano), Laura Ros, Cabulero Dúo (guitars) y Alberto Villafáñez (percussion).
“Los Hermanos Butaca” participated in many different Tango festivals in 2008, most of them organized by “Centro Cultural San Martín” of Buenos Aires. Also, they played in many different venues such as “Teatro El Victorial”, “Radio Nacional Argentina auditorium”, “Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso”, “Milonga Parakultural”, “Milonga Salón Pueyrredón”, “Teatro de la Galería”, “Café Homero”, “Palacio Barolo”, “Centro Cultural del Sur” and many other places of Argentina and Uruguay.
Last year, the duo was the winner of the “Unpublished song award” for their composition “Nosé si tengo ganas de volver”; celebration that took place in Rojas (a town located in Buenos Aires).
