Abe Rábade was born in Santiago de Compostela in 1977. He begins his musical studies at age 4 in his hometown. He moves to the U.S. in 1995 to obtain a Degree in Jazz Composition and Piano Performance at Berklee College of Music (Boston. MA). Since 2000 he lives in Santiago de Compostela.

Pianist, composer and teacher, he leads his acoustic trio since 1996. Babel de Sons (2001) was his first album, a live recording of the performance awarded with the 2nd prize of the International Contest of Jazz Groups of Getxo (Euskadi). That same year, he obtained the Prize Tete Montoliú to the Revelation Pianist in Spain (SGAE). Simetrías (2002), his second CD was presented at the Festival de Jazz Plaza de La Habana (Cuba).

Artist for Karonte Records since 2004, he published that year GHU! Project vol.1, a quintet work.

During the celebration of the Holly Year of 2004 in Galiza (Xacobeo 2004) he presents Cantigas Jazz Suite, a revision of XIII century Galician medieval music in a contemporary context -a sextet project featuring Portuguese singer Mísia.

In 2006 he publishes the trio production Playing on Light -7 sounding photos-, a programatic work where seven black and white pictures get musicated (photos by masters such as Ralph Gibson, Dona Ferrato or Mitsuaki Iwago). This album was acclaimed by critics voting it as Best Jazz Album in Spain in 2006 (Cuadernos de Jazz magazine).

He joins singers Guadi Galego and Uxía Pedreira to form the band Nordestin@s in 2005, based on a new dimenssion for Galiza's popular music. Their first album (Nordestin@s, in the label Falcatruada) was a top 100 seller in Spain in January 2007. Nordestin@s also won the 1st Prize of the La Opinión Awards of Galician Music.

In February of 2007 he wins the Prize Aula X to the Best Solo in the X Jazz Sessions on Jazz of the UNED (Melilla).

In 2008 he joined a project directed by author Anxo Angueira and produces musically the album Rosalía 21(Falcatruada), a review in a contemporary key of Galiza's National Poet Rosalía de Castro. The work was presented at the Feria Internacional del Libro de La Habana (Cuba). That same year he publishes the album Aloumiños de Seda, comisioned by the General Bureau of Language Policy (Government of Galiza).

His mosts recent CD with band is the album Open Doors (2008, Karonte Records), the second volume of the GHU! Project in a septet format. The record was illustrated by the artist Deli Sánchez. It obtained the 2nd place at the Awards Jaç '09 in the category of Best International Record -Jaç Magazine (Catalunya). In March of 2009 Open Doors Live (Karonte), was released. It is a live DVD with the performance of the septet at the Teatro Principal in Santiago de Compostela.

In June of 2008 he produced artistically Jesús Santandreu's album Sound Colors (Fresh Sound New Talent).

Along with magician Kiko Pastur he presents in October of 2008 the show Jazzia -a synthesis of Magic and Jazz with original music for solo piano contained in the CD Jazzia. In February of 2009 the Vice-Chair of Culture of the University of Santiago comissioned an original work on the Celebration of the Year Rodríguez Cadarso. The work is entitled O movemento dos Soños [The movement of Dreams] (USC Editions). Integrating these two pianistic productions (Jazzia e O movemento dos Soños), in March of 2009 the album Abe Rábade Piano Solo (Karonte Records) is published.

In the teaching arena Abe Rábade was a representative of Estudio escola de música (Santiago) at the annual meetings of the International Association of Schools of Jazz (IASJ) held in Boston (2001) and Helsinki (2002). Since 2000 he is the artistic director of the Seminario Permanente de Jazz de Pontevedra (SPJ) along with Paco Charlín.

He performed with Miguel Zenón, Claudia Acuña, Jeff Williams, Alan Ferber, Paco Charlín, Bruno Pedroso, Skip Hadden, Jesús Santandreu, Chris Kase, Perico Sambeat, Víctor de Diego, Jorge Pardo, Antonio Serrano, Horacio Fumero, Jeff Harrington, Raynald Colom, John O'Gallagher, Nelson Cascais, Deborah Carter, Marc Miralta, Tom Warburton, Marc Ayza, Miquel Casany, Carlos Barreto, Mário Barreiros, Nuno Ferreira, Guim García Balasch or Ramón Ángel among many others.

He played in the most important Jazz Festivals from Spain and in International venues such as París and Toulouse (France), Berlín, Munich and Kiel (Germany), Lausanne (Switzerland), Porto, Lisboa and Madeira (Portugal), Tanger (Morocco), Boston (USA), Birmingham (UK), La Habana (Cuba), Helsinki (Finland), Salvador de Bahía (Brazil), among others.
