There are many things that we encounter that we are only able to catch a glimpse of. Each day our lives are filled with interactions that form who we are, and who we will become. It is only when we understand that our existence with each other was not intended to be a shallow and separated relationship. It is this idea that drives Ancient of Days to reach people through their music When our failures become lessons. When our emptiness searches for faith. When passions form melodies. Ancient of Days is a band dedicated to using their God given talents of music to further the Kingdom of God. Through our words and actions we hope to radiate the Love of Christ to others...May we never be silent in proclaiming our Savior's name. Ancient of Days is from Canton, Ohio and consists of:
Josh Hostetler- vocals/guitar
Dave Owen- guitar
Bill Wensel- drums
Don Yoder- bass
When we look back at where Ancient of Days has been and we take a second to stop and see where the Lord has brought us today, we find ourselves at a loss for words. Life for the individuals that make up Ancient of Days has been an amazing experience that has taught us a lot about ourselves as well as our relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Ancient of Days was formed in 1997 by four individuals who had just recently been rescued from the destructive paths that we were leading. We all had been involved in music for many years before this and played in bands that represented all the wrong things. At the ages of 16 and 17, we were playing in local bars and at parties when all we were concerned about were drugs, sex, and rock and roll. So when the Lord revealed himself to us in amazing ways, that project came to a halt and we separated ourselves from music totally. After a while, we realized that we wanted to share the message of love, salvation and forgiveness that we found through our relationship with Christ. The biggest encouragement that we encountered was Christian music and the positive message that it revolved around. The ways that the bands shared their faith with others was on such a real level that it brought the Christian faith more down- to- earth. That inspired us. So we spent most of 97 writing and figuring out our musical niche. We played local and regional shows. During this year, our bass player, Adam Shilling, decided to go off into missions. We then took another break from music so that we could re-focus our lives and improve our walks with the Lord. In 98 we got back together, but this time was with a new drummer named Bill Wensel. We then independently recorded a ten song CD (the brief warmth of life) and continued to play local and regional shows. We started playing with bands like Morella's Forrest, Zao, Supertones, ect. From there, we then lost our original bass player again to the missions field and we joined up with a long time friend Jim Jullien. 1999 was an awesome year for Ancient of Days. We were writing new material and playing a lot of shows when somehow Rescue Records got a hold of our CD. They called us and wanted to put it out for us, and we agreed as long as we could re-record some old material and throw five of the new songs on it. That is the CD that is currently out now (self titled). We then put together a national tour for the summer of 2000 and we headed out on the road with a band called Kerith Ravine. Before the tour started, our bassist, Jim Jullien, was called to overseas missionary work and decided that the Lord wanted him there. We then picked up another bassist and long time friend, Don Yoder. The tour went great. Currently we are writing new material and playing as many shows as possible. Our hearts desire is to spread the love of Christ through our music, but everyone in the band feels that our walks are way more important than a music career. We are not a band focused on image, riches, or fame. We hope and pray that the Lord continues to work and move through Ancient of Days. Read more on Last.fm.
