Unholy Cult Lyrics

It feels like we're blind... It feels like we're dead
We'll never find our way... we'll never feel the light of day

Don't try to think... Don't try to live your own life
We have you for keeps... Our ways are sewn deep in your hearts and minds

The colours have faded... everything's black
Darkness around me... Darkness inside me

Your blood line stops here... We are your family now Prepare for the end... a
new life awaits us beyond

Like a shadow over mankind
Towering over the light
Love for abuse, can't they see
Humanity struggles to be free

Are you willing to die for us
Are you willing to die with us

Strip us down to nothing and use us as you wish
Like little pawns you move around at your fingertips
We beg to serve and serve you well, you keep us in the dark
Hold us close and suffocate the souls you've led astray

The cycle's complete... the pieces for ruin are in place Our subjects are
ready... to seal our date with infamy

Like a shadow over mankind
Towering over the light
Love for abuse, can't they see
Humanity struggles to be free

Immolation is a death metal band from Yonkers, New York. They were formed in 1986 as Rigor Mortis. The name was changed to Immolation in late 1987, between the "Warriors of Doom" demo which was done as Rigor Mortis and "Demo I" which was done as Immolation. The band recorded 4 songs on the "Demo II" 1989 sessions, but only 3 were finally released: "Internal decadence", "Burial Ground" and "Despondent Souls". The remaining song is "Infectious Blood" (later re-named "Fall in Disease" on the "Dawn of Possession" Album). This song remained unavailable until the release of "Stepping on Angels...Before Dawn" CD.

In 1991, the band got a deal with Roadrunner Records and released their debut album Dawn of Possession. They were dropped by the label when the label dropped nearly all of the death metal bands. Later, they were picked up by Metal Blade Records and released the three succeeding albums through them. After the second one Here in After, drummer Craig Smilowski left the band and was replaced by Alex Hernandez who immediately boosted the technical proficiency of the band as a whole. The most recent two albums were released by Listenable Records. Unholy Cult saw the departure of guitarist Thomas Wilkinson, and Steve Shalaty replaced Hernandez on Harnessing Ruin.
