Super Massive are an Australian electro/rock band based in Sydney, NSW.
They were formed in 2005 by singer Malina Hamilton-Smith and drummer Glenn Abbott, who was formerly Bryan Ferrysexual of Machine Gun Fellatio.
In 2007 Super Massive won the award for 'Best Alternative Artist' at the MusicOz Awards, Australia's premier national awards for independent and unsigned bands, for their song "Fists In My Pocket".
The band released their debut, self-titled EP in May 2008 to very positive reviews. The sessions were recorded at Puzzle Factory in Penrith.
Debut single "Fists In My Pocket" shot to #1 on the Triple J Unearthed Dance Chart in July 08 and remained in the Top 5 of that chart for two months. The video for "Fists" also reached #1 on the Channel 31 (Melbourne) Video Chart, and was featured on British music magazine NME's website and pay TV in the UK.
Since its release they have been touring, playing their own shows as well as festival gigs in Australia and Asia. Notable shows include Sea Festival Vietnam 2009, Australia Day Festival in The Rocks 2010, Surry Hills Festival 2008 and a showcase at BigSound 2009.
A follow-up, digital single "Get Me Out Of My Head" was released in April 2010, available on iTunes worldwide & Bigpond Music.
