A native of Israel, Daniel Meron succeeds in expressing the diversity of influences from his homeland in his music. Nourished by the tradition of Jazz improvisation, but recognizing the value of a solid tune, Daniel finds a way to feature his unique playing style in brilliant compositions that are both sophisticated and lyrical, communicating vivid stories and emotions to the listener.

Born in Israel in 1985, Daniel began playing piano at the age of 8. Studying with teachers Boaz Prital and Michael Tabdi, Daniel quickly gained a strong foundation through his classical studies and gradually shifted towards the contemporary and jazz genres.

As a music student in Ben-Zvi High school, in Kiryat-Ono, Daniels interest in jazz grew more and he began playing in the high school Big Band. Daniels involvement in the music department was shown quickly, as he began arranging for the school ensembles. During his last year of high school Daniel took lessons with jazz pianist Raz Itzhaky. In addition, he formed a ten-piece contemporary band, which performed their original music in venues including The Barbie and Maccabi Music Factory in Tel Aviv.

After Graduating from high school in 2003, Daniel joined the prestigious performance troupes of the Israeli Military. He served as a pianist for one year and was then promoted to Chief Musical Arranger of the performance troupes, a position he filled for the next two years. As a musical arranger Daniel had the opportunity to work with Israel's finest musicians, including: Avi Singolda, Alon Hilel, Gadi Seri and Ohad Hitman. He arranged and composed for large ensembles, strings and vocal groups, whose performances were frequently broadcast on national television and even performed internationally.

After his military discharge in 2006, Daniel received a scholarship to attend the Rimon School of Jazz. Majoring in Jazz performance, he studied with musicians like Avi Adrian, Eli Benakot, Amikam Kimelman and Urai Oron. That year, he was a finalist in Rimon's Jazz competition and Rimons arranging contest, and performed at the Costa Rica Jazz Festival. During the years 2006-2007 Daniel studied privately with Mr. Opher Brayer and pianist Avi Adrian. He led his own jazz trio that performed his original compositions in venues like Tmuna Theater and Shablul Jazz in Tel-Aviv. In addition, Daniel was the musical director for several productions at Bet-Zvi Academy of Performing Arts, musical arranger for the nation-wide performance show Shir Nolad and a pianist in a successful comedy show.

In September 2007, after receiving a Berklee Scholarship, Daniel began his studies in Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has had the privilege of studying with teachers such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Greg Osby and Hal Crook. In the spring of 2008 Daniel received the Piano Department Award and in the spring of 2009 he was chosen to perform in the Piano Department Concert at the BPC. Daniel continued to lead his own band, performing in venues like Wallys Café and Ryles Jazz in Boston, Miles Café, Puppets Jazz and Rose Live in NYC and HR-57 in Washington DC. He was also a finalist in the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition of 2009.

Currently based in New York, Daniel is performing with selections from his debut album in venues across the East Coast. He is also performing as a sideman and is already working on new material.
