Onward to Mayhem formed in January 1998 after Daego and Kla made the pilgrimage to Minneapolis, as fellow hometown punks from South Bend had 3 years prior and found success in the Murderers, which was at the time regarded as a Mecca of hardcore punk. Drawn to Minneapolis by the prolific output of the mid 90’s scene they planned to form a band and contribute to the heritage of music they found so inspirational such as Defiance, Aus-Rotten, Code 13, Oi Polloi and the Pist. Matt was recruited early on and the lineup went through several changes in bass players. TT Scofflaw appeared on the 7”, Bill recorded on the Charged Records LP, and the final bassist was Ben Luce from A-Bomb Nation filling in. Daego owned and operated legendary DIY venue space The Inferno throughout most of the band’s tenure which hosted bands from all over the world and promoted off-site events for larger touring bands. After enduring a litany of well published hardships and defeats in attempted tours due to Matt’s heroin problem, including a lifetime ban from Canada, OTM’s final show happened in 2002 at the Red Sea in MPLS. It was not scheduled as a final performance but friction in the band had reached a boiling point, leaving several half finished projects on the table including a 7” planned for Havoc Records which Daego had dreamed of since forming the band. A 10 year reunion show was planned for 2012 with Timmy from Victory on guitar but rehearsals never materialized. Very little is known about the post-breakup biographies of OTM members other than Matt, who has a lengthy arrest and imprisonment record for burglary and drug charges. Rumors state that Daego is an MMA coach and Kla works in digital advertisement. No trace of the other members exists.
