kein is a Japanese visual kei / Nagoya kei band which has been formed in 1997. They were active from 1997 until 2000 and reunited in 2022.

History:

In April 1997 眞呼 [Mako] (vo) (former roadie of Merry-go-round), Reo (gu) (ex- Lustair), Yukino (gu) and Ritsu (ba) (both ex- Risk), who all came from Nagoya, met and decided to start a new band. After picking kein as the name, meaning "no" in German (as in “There’s no water”), they practiced a few months without putting on a show because they were still missing a drummer. In November of that year Hibiki (ex- Orphee) joined and completed the line-up.
In January of 1999, Ruka, who at that time was part of Lamiel, joined as support bassist and became a full member in February, replacing Yukino.
In January of 2000 aie (gu) (ex- Lamiel) joined the band. He was at least well known to two members of kein. Hibiki had already played with him in LAPSE and Another you, bands that weren’t active very long. Yukino shared experiences with aie when they were playing in Another you.
They disbanded after their last live one-man "Hajimari" on August 21st 2000. They had a one day revival on February 13th 2002.
20 years later, on April 1st 2022 a re-recorded version of "Uso" was uploaded on YouTube together with the words "August 21st 2022, Beginning". On May 1st, they resumed activities and signed with Bellwood Records.
On August 21st 2022, 22 years after their initial disbanding, they held their comeback oneman "Hajimari" at Nagoya DIAMOND HALL.
Just like deadman, they have been very active since reforming. They have played several tours, re-released old demos/Singles, and album (Hakai to shisou), a live DVD and two mini-albums/EPs (PARADOX DOLORIS and delusional inflammation).
