Taking their name from the parental warning at the beginning of a science fiction film, Adventure Violence exists where rock and folk music mingle with art school sensibilities and obsessive pop hooks.
Principle songwriter, John Winston Connell, met future bandmate David Rogers-Berry while the two were working at a DIY art space/dive bar known as "Apocalypse Lounge" in Manhattan's East Village. Connell and Rogers-Berry became roommates and recorded a handful of home demos, making a splash in the lo-fi Myspace boom of the mid-aughts before taking a decade long hiatus.
Rogers-Berry continued recording/touring as a member of gothic-americana band, o'death, while Connell went on to work as an assistant for prominent Rock and Roll photographer, Leee Black Childers.
Reforming in 2016, after the creation of Imaginator Records (Rogers-Berry's independent record label) the duo would go on to record their self-titled debut in 2018, enlisting help from JJ Murphy (Bass), Dan Sager (Euphonium, Synthesizers), Bob Pycior (violin) of o'death, Jennifer Harder (Trumpet), and a number of brass players from NYC's legendary Hungry March Band.
