One of the 80's brazilian instrumental bands, mixing good lyrics, vocals and fabulous musicians, Zil released only one Long Play in Brazil on 1987, by Continental Records. The ZIL album would be released years latter on Cd by american Polygram, only in the USA, Europe and Japan, with the bonus track Zarabatana (Zé Renato). In Brazil, the CD album wasn't release.
ZIL came with the tracks Tupete (Claudio Nucci & Zé Renato), Benefício and Pegadas frescas (Zé Renato & Hamilton Vaz Pereira), Jequié (Moacir Santos & Aldir Blanc), Suíte gaúcha (Marcos Ariel), Ânima (Zé Renato & Milton Nascimento) and Maromba (Ricardo Silveira & Paulinho Soledade). This wonderful work had also special guests like Armando Marçal, Maurício Maestro, Luiz Avellar and Edu Mello e Souza. Production direction by João Mario Linhares, and musical production by João Batista and Zé Nogueira.
Unfortunantly, brazilian music industry and public interest by instrumental music wasn't suficient to keep the band more than an album, ending on 1991. The brazilian master record itself got deteriorated due to terrible conservation conditions.
Formed originaly by Zé Renato (vocals and acoustic guitars), Claudio Nucci (vocals and acoustic guitars), Zé Nogueira (sax sopran and vocal), Ricardo Silveira (eletric guitar), Marcos Ariel (keyboards), João Batista (bass and vocal) e Jurim Moreira (drums), after the end of the group each musician went to it's own project. Some of them, like Ze Renato, invested on MPB projects, like reviewing classical brazilian samba composers. Others became enterpreneurs on other areas, like Marcos Ariel who opened a restaurant, although still working with music.
