Though he was born in Nicaragua, Diego gained fame in Honduras during his brief tenure with Delirium. Though he only recorded two songs with them, he wrote some of the songs that would later be hailed as classics by their fans (Puerta Al Infierno, El Psicopata, El Elegido, and Hombres de Verde).

Later, he founded the band Utopía, which was basically a backup band for him as all writing credits are his and he has been the only constant member. In fact, though his debut album Llanto is labeled as Diego Navas y la Utopía, he recorded most of the instruments in it and had only one other musician collaborating with the bass and backing vocals.
