"When he's not doing his “day job” as an automotive consultant, Phil Biggs is usually looking for pad of paper, a pen or his laptop and trying to find a moment to do his songwriting. “My roots in writing go back a long way and the focus of my songs reflect themes of social issues, literature, spirituality, travel and, of course, relationships.” says Phil. Since his days in the late 1970's as a member of the acoustic trio Kooyman, Biggs and Anderson through his recent return to solo performing, Phil has passionately put forth a body of original songs including Shop Floor, Tennessee Flyer, Garden of Hope, The Light In You, Meridian Wind, Soul of the Wolf, The Talking Earth, Spirit of Three Fires, Let Your Love Pour Down and Bells All Over the World.

"Phil recently spent two years playing with the contemporary Christian band, Beyond Belief and has occasionally performed with the legendary group Mid-Life Crisis, but always his first interest is in crafting lyrics and penning new tunes. 'It’s been a privilege to work with some of the very best we have. Whether we’re raising money for a worthy charity or planning out a new project or tour, I’ve shared a lot with artists like Michael Crittenden, Drew Nelson and my friends with Mid-Life Crisis and Beyond Belief. I’ve learned a great deal from them and others.'

"In 2003, Phil was executive producer of Standing Together, a CD of original songs by local songwriters to support the needs of the Grand Rapids Public Schools. He coordinated the entire project and contributed a song, Gentle Dance. In 2004, with the help of friend and producer Michael Crittenden, Phil released another CD of original songs, New Road Home, and in May of 2005, he organized the Concert for Literacy, at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center. Then, in 2006, he released a CD-single, Shop Floor, with help from Mid-Life Crisis. Shop Floor was written by Biggs, who had some first-hand experience to call upon for part of his inspiration: “I spent a couple summers during my college years working in an auto plant. Factories were dotted along I-94 in Michigan and throughout the Midwest. Many are gone now, as well as the towns they supported. The impact on the families whose jobs have been outsourced has been more devastating than perhaps we realize,” says Biggs.

"Phil has had his songs play on several West Michigan radio stations including WYCE, 88.1, The River—WTRV, 100.5 and WLAV 97, and has received local and national recognition for his songwriting. He released a new CD, titled Reaching Deeper, in November 2007. He continues down a path of spiritual renewal with the song Walk the Red Road, and reflects on the demise of the railroads and the middle class in Riding the Pere Marquette. Reaching Deeper has 11 new songs in total.

"Phil has performed venues including the BOB, DeVos Center, Grand Valley State University, Forest Hills Fine Arts Center, Calder Festival, the Intersection and numerous other performance locations. In 2006, Phil performed as a headliner for the 9/11 Tribute Concert at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center for the five-year anniversary event." Read more on Last.fm.
