The Warrington based 4-piece Danxia – their name borrowed from the ethereal Chinese landform – are new to the North West music scene. Starting through the cross pollination of numerous bands that happened to be sharing a local practise room, a few jams, paired with shared music taste and vision, lead on to the formation of Danxia. Straight off the back of their demo tape, Danxia are raising their profile through various support slots and small shows around Manchester and Warrington. Danxia are currently in the process of recording their first self-release EP, which will be available in the summer of 2016. Described by Manchester writer Dave Beech as ‘woozily narcotic’, Danxia opt for the reverberated, gazey style of dream-pop, inspired by the likes of Slowdive. This is not to say they are shying away from a glacial, fuzzed out wall of sound or kraut like electronic repetitiveness inspired by the likes of NEU! And Beak>. The hypnotic hybrid of these sounds have allowed Danxia to carve out a niche; they are showing their ability to set themselves apart from their contemporaries.
