The story thus far..

On the surface, Wayne Graham is a five-piece folk rock band, bred in the beautiful Appalachain Mountains of Southeastern Kentucky. Look a little deeper and you'll find that Wayne Graham is truly the brainchild of brothers Kenny and Hayden Miles. The name itself is derived from the first names of their Grandfathers, Wayne Miles and Graham Kincer. Inspired by their loving family and musical heritage, relationships with God, and a desire to be unique, they lay the foundations in both music and group aspirations.

The band began as a small project Kenny and Hayden undertook back in 2008. Finding themselves bandless, they started focusing their musical energies to music and lyrics of their own flavor. In 2009, Charlie West joined the brothers and their parents in their church's praise and worship band, where he was introduced to the project. He was intrigued with what he was hearing and started to play around with bass lines for the songs they'd already written. These seemed to flow along the same path the brothers were trodding, thus the duet became a trio.

Trying on a few names, the trio played a show or two, all the time continuing to come up with new songs. Pretty soon there were enough for an album, and Kenny being fresh out of recording school, they donned the name Wayne Graham and made one. "Ripe Old Age" was finished in early 2010 and the boys were eager to promote it with shows around the area, but they ran into a problem. As a three piece, comparatively the live version of their studio songs sounded quite empty.

Cue Jon Grindstaff. Playing in a previous band with the brothers, Jon was called in to fill the gaps that were missing in the live show. At the first practice as a quartet, Jon brings his musically inclined cousin along to just hang out and check out the band. That cousin was Jordan Epperson. During the course of the practice, Jordan plays piano, mandolin, and guitar filler parts just for fun, but fun or not -- something just clicked with the five musicians. Jon and Jordan were missing puzzle pieces falling into place. Wayne Graham was complete.

For almost a year now, Wayne Graham has been out and about, playing festivals, coffee houses, and various other venues. Although being a new act in an already overpopulated industry is intimidating, they have no doubt that there are big things in store for them. Instead of worrying about how or when they'll happen, they're learning to put their trust in God, for all things are possible through Him. Until then, you'll find Wayne Graham continuing to write songs, playing music, and loving people. Read more on Last.fm.
