AXTY is a metalcore band from São Paulo, Brazil, formed in 2016 by vocalist Felipe Hervoso. Originally a solo project under the name Anxiety, Hervoso started the band as a way to cope with his own struggles with anxiety and depression. The goal was to raise awareness about mental health issues through music. After releasing early instrumental tracks, the project evolved, and the name was changed to an abbreviation of Anxiety to reflect its authenticity and purpose. The first single under the new name, "Persist. Resist.", was released in 2019, marking the shift towards including Felipe Hervoso's vocals in the band's music.
The addition of vocal elements led to further musical experimentation, resulting in the release of two singles, "77" and "Dark Eyes". These songs broadened the band's creative possibilities and led to the recruitment of new members. By 2021, the lineup was solidified with Felipi Grivol (guitar), Jonathas Peschiera (bass), and Gabriel Vacari (drums) joining Hervoso. Together, they expanded AXTY's sound to include a blend of metalcore with elements of djent, progressive metal, electronic music, and even pop influences, maintaining a solid foundation in modern metal.
In 2021, AXTY released their debut album Helpless. AXTY draws influence primarily from contemporary metalcore bands such as Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Polaris, and I Prevail, and is known for incorporating a range of musical styles into their work, from electronic elements to heavier metal sounds. Their music, often raw and emotional, touches on themes of mental health, resilience, and at times, darker, more introspective emotions. Despite the diversity of their lyrical content, AXTY's songs resonate deeply with fans, offering both solace and a candid reflection of life's struggles. Read more on Last.fm.
