East of Monroe is an intersection of musical genres with roots in traditional bluegrass. Their music explores swing, country, folk, pop, jazz and bluegrass within tasteful arrangements of contemporary and traditional as well as original compositions. Deep experience and tight vocal harmony- together with fresh, new original songwriting- combine to offer a unique sound on the American acoustic music scene.

Music from the band features original compositions from all its members: Gary Ferguson (formerly Knoxville Grass), Jackie Frost (2008 finalist in Independent Music Awards), Richard Ward (formerly "Jackie Frost Trio" and exciting newcomer Emily Timberlake. The band is complimented by the solid bass playing of Billy Budd (formerly "Bill Harrell and the Virginians) and the tasteful and diverse dobro of Dave Giegerich ("Hula Monsters".
