Originally from the West Texas town of El Paso, Blake Allen is a multiple award-winning composer & musician living in New York City.

Allen's latest release, SONATAS, contains music which premiered at the Met Museum of Art. 'L'abîme' depicts splashing into the ocean and the slow decent towards the abyssal floor (based loosely on the BBC Planet EARTH 'Ocean Deep'). 'Music for Kelly' is the score to a play based upon the infamous 1955 Kelly-Hopkinsville alien encounter, Kelly [1955]. Both have alluring and haunting qualities, highlighting extended techniques in the violin and the piano.

Allen's works are "full of yearning and exuberance and affection" with "strings to make you swoon" (NYTimes). Allen is most known for being the music director of the first NYC revival of the Tony-Winning musical OVER HERE!, being the creator and musical director of the hit series "An Evening With...", and one of the composers/lyricists/orchestrators of FOLK WANDERING.

Allen has also performed with The Who, The Eagles, Pink Martini, the New York Pops, in 'Misery' & 'Tootsie' on Broadway, as well as at Carnegie Hall, Geffen Hall, Symphony Space, The Beacon, on and off Broadway, (le) poison rouge, PBS, film, TV, etc.

Allen is also the traveling music director for famed drag queen, Marti Gould Cummings. Togethert their album, A VERY MARTI HOLIDAY, raises funds for the Ali Forney Center, as well as being featured on the record-breaking television show "Shade: Queens of NYC".

Allen's influences include Richard M. Sherman, Rufus Wainwright, MIKA, Randy Newman, Sergei Prokofiev, Ethelbert Nevin, Philip Glass, Charles Ives, the Great American Songbook, and Mormon hymns.
