He started out on his youtube acc StupidHatmatt posting videos of himself playing different guitars such as 8 string (ibanez rga8 and shecter omen 8 in white), acoustic and a YouRock midi guitar to get piano and violin sound using guitar format. the songs are all instrumental and he uses both hands whilst playing to synchronize rhythm and lead at the same time, very rarely he is heard using drums as a backing, most of his work is guitar only.

In November of 2011 he put 19 songs onto a self titled, self released, debut album on itunes as previous discussions confirm he does not want to be on a record label for personal reasons.
