Raised in Otaki till he was 18 and then moving to Wellington city, Percieve is the rapper's rapper, easily holding his own in a freestyle cipher, while utilizing early music lessons to craft structurally sound, and musically diverse tracks in the studio. With his vivd storytelling ability punched through a flow regarded as one of the best in the country, and his signature use of cleverly layered samples, MPC drum patterns, and inventive synths on beats, Percieve’s debut album Second Chances did not fail to impress. Released in early 2008 and described by DJ Sirvere as the best local album for the year, Second Chances was recorded, mixed and arranged entirely by Percieve and was for the most part distributed by himself.
