Jassin (Jassin Awadallah, born on 22 February 2005) is a German rapper and singer from Lutherstadt-Wittenberg.
He is known for his introspective lyrics and sharp social critique. He grew up with a German mother and an Egyptian father, surrounded by a wide range of musical influences, from Arabic music to German rock and pop artists such as Peter Maffay and Herbert Grönemeyer. As a teenager he began writing his own songs and developed a style that blends rap with melodic elements and emotional depth. He cites Kafka as an influence, alongside musicians including Apsilon, Haftbefehl, Celo & Abdi, Schmyt, and Tristan Brusch.
Before his public breakthrough, Jassin achieved top marks in the national Jugend musiziert competition, earning the maximum score of 25 and first place in Saxony-Anhalt at the age of 17. After finishing school, he studied jazz vocals in Cologne for one semester.
He first gained wider attention in spring 2024 by posting music snippets and videos on TikTok and Instagram. His raw delivery and direct, unpolished reflections quickly resonated with listeners. His debut single “Wellness am Scherbenmeer”, released in June 2024, captures a sense of alienation and longing shaped by growing up in a provincial town in eastern Germany. Even before its release, he performed at Unreleased Berlin, a monthly event series with a secret line-up.
In September 2024 Jassin released his debut EP “Kinder können fies sein” through Columbia / Sony Music. That same year he appeared at festivals such as the Reeperbahn Festival and Splash!, and supported artists including Apsilon, RIN, and Schmyt on tour. His lyrics address racism, discrimination, beauty standards, patriarchal structures, friendship, and the pressures of adolescence, combining personal experience with broader social observation.
In April 2025 Jassin embarked on his first solo tour, followed by further festival appearances at events including c/o pop, MS Dockville, Stadt ohne Meer, the Superbloom Festival, and the Poolbar Festival. He also announced an additional tour for winter 2025. In late November 2025 he released his debut album “Arsenalplatz”, expanding his voice as a storyteller rooted in lived experience and social awareness.
Alongside his musical work, Jassin has been involved in political and social initiatives. In autumn 2024 he performed in selected alternative youth centers in eastern Germany to support local grassroots projects. He collaborated with Trettmann on the track “Nach Hause komm’” for the album “Your Love Is King 3”, accompanied by a fundraising campaign for victims of right-wing violence. In September 2025 he also took part in the benefit concert “Gemeinsam für Palästina” in Cologne, with proceeds supporting the humanitarian organization Cadus.
