The Burrows Four's newly released CD," Mending Matters," represents the band growing as independent songwriters and performers. The summer of 2011 has the band performing more frequently, including a road trip to the famous Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA, on Aug. 5, with stops in Indiana, Pennsylvania and New Jersey on the way. One of the hits from the new album, "Cry the Days Away," is a newly released video on YouTube.
In 2009, The Burrows Four released their debut album, "A Brighter One", an eclectic mix of rock with country, blues and ska influences. The album culminated a summer of successful, high energy performances, featuring the band as winner at the Taste of Chicago Battle of the Bands, 2009.
B4 started in 2008 as five high school kids from the Deerfield, IL, area. But their music belies their age (band members were 15 to 18 years old when the LP was recorded) in many ways. The densely lyrical melodies will remind you of Dylan or the Beatles -- the story line of the piano may suggest Ben Folds, but imagine that any of those artists was coupled with a Larry Carlton (or name a Steely Dan guitar soloist) on lead guitar and a rhythm section that is tight as the proverbial drum.
