Snow Day is the theoretically musical musings and scheming sexily-contoured thoughts of Evan Banks, a designer/journalist/jack of all trades/supervillain living in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington D.C., and all the liminal spaces in between.
Musically, Snow Day hopes to combine the warm, scratchy, earthy sounds of mid-century television with the tone and feel of a vintage sci-fi or post-apocalyptic flick, the kind you take your girlfriend to at the local drive-in and end up making out to it because the plot is weak enough you could bend it like a paperclip. Infused with these warm,"active" grooves are deep, transcendent synth cuts that at times give Banks' music a settled, reflective quality. Principal influences include ambient electronica and IDM acts such as Boards of Canada, Tycho, and Carbon Based Lifeforms, and chill-out downtempo experimental jazz acts like Bonobo, Röyksopp, and Quantic.
