I will transcribe all the written info from their 1 and only CD as soon as i get it out of my storage building. The article placed here is all that i could find about the band on the web.

Genre: Funk / Metal / Other
Location AUSTIN, Texas, US
Time: 1980s-1994
"Written by the obscenester."

This question is part of some between song banter on an early Bouffant Jellyfish cassette, and it’s not a bad way of summing up the sweet pounding delivered by the band’s particular hybrid of funk, thrash and metal. Maybe it’s simply nostalgia, but despite being one of many funk-metal bands from the late eighties/early nineties, a genre that hasn’t exactly withstood the test of time, Bouffant’s music holds up surprisingly well. This is mostly because Bouffant Jellyfish were just so damn fun, an element that was all too often left out of the 90′s alternative scene. But as fun as the bands recordings were, and still are, the live Bouffant Jellyfish experience always inspired in me pure, unbridled, primal joy.

Nostalgia can sometimes carry the weight of regret or sentimental longing, but in this case it is buoyed by the memories of the many times I whipped off my shirt and dove into the swirling mass that always filled the floor in front of the stage during a Bouffant Jellyfish show. Inside that multi-headed beast of movement and barely checked mayhem, everything in my head fell away until nothing was left but the music and the energy of the band. It was purifying. It was transcendent. It was always one helluva great time.

Bouffant Jellyfish recordings can be tough to track down, but the 1994 compilation A Band From Texas That Was Fortunate Enough To Go To Kansas (from the presumably now defunct Reservoir Records) is out there somewhere and well worth the effort. In the mean time, songs are available at the Bouffant Jellyfish myspace page. Read more on Last.fm.
