One Less Guest is Ren Cooper (Violin), Nick Muska (Guitar), Cody Thoreson (Drums) & Nick Glass (Bass). Drawing on their passion for funk, rock, jazz & neo-soul, the group performs their own original material alongside unique renditions of songs from artists past and present. Their music features tight vocal & instrumental harmonies, attention-grabbing arrangements and a prevailing love for the craft of songwriting and each other. One Less Guest is currently based in the Los Angeles area.
The band formed in Duluth, Minnesota in 2018. Having already performed with each other in local college jazz programs & area cover bands, the members developed a quick rapport and rapidly garnered a following in the upper midwest. After playing nearly 200 dates together, the group saved up enough through performance funds & a few generous fan donations to release their first album, Monochrome, in April 2020. Despite it’s premiere coinciding with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the debut release did well; finding its way to a double digit spot on the North American College & Community radio charts & receiving consistent airplay from radio stations across the United States/Canada.
In the year following the album’s release, the band was presented with an opportunity through Thoreson to relocate to his hometown of Anaheim, California. On May 20, 2021, they performed their Farewell Midwest (For Now) show to a sold-out crowd of several hundred friends, family, and fans at Earth Rider Festival Grounds in Superior, Wisconsin and headed west.
One Less Guest performs regularly around Southern California, and since their move has released an EP of select covers, The Perch Sessions; as well as a live album, One Hot Night, Vol. 1. On July 23rd, the band set off on the One Hot Night Tour with stops in San Diego, Minneapolis MN, Superior & Sarona, WI. Read more on Last.fm.
